Last Game Of The Season

Miracle League baseball with Lundyn continues to be one of our favorite things to do.  You see why, don't you?!?
We've had a blast this Miracle League season.  Lundyn has certainly learned the ropes and feels more comfortable out on the field.

I'm sure that her favorite times in the outfield are spent like this. You can't beat the great view from the top of your Daddy's shoulders!

Mark and I take turns at bat with Lundyn.  This can be a very silly and exciting time for her.  She is usually laughing and jumping up and down.

I'm not making excuses for this.  Well, maybe just a little. I might just need more practice.  The ball is supposed to go the other way, isn't it?  I'm so glad Daddy got pictures of this moment.

Whew!  We got it that time.

Daddy's flawless turn at bat with Lundyn.

Off and running.

Until next season!

The State Fair Of Texas 2010

It's time for corny dogs, turkey legs, funnel cakes and deep fried foods that you can't imagine and must be brave to try.  Our trip to the State Fair included all the above and below...

Big Tex says, "Howdy, folks."

The petting zoo is always a favorite for Lundyn.  She loves to get face to face with these animals.

Lundyn eagerly anticipated the rides this year.  She will squeal and laugh from the moment she gets on until she gets off.  This one was a spinner.  Round and round and up and down.

Daddy took her on the Dragon Wagon roller coaster.  What a hoot! All squeals and smiles from both of them!

We made a splash on our last ride of the day!  Lundyn loved it!

Our tummies are full and our heads are spinning!  Fun times!  See you next year, Big Tex!

Take Me Out To The Ball Game!

Mark and I recently got a rare night to ourselves AND we had tickets to the Rangers game.

The weather was beautiful, Cliff Lee was on the mound AND

I shared it all with my best friend! (Note: Best friend was uncooperative with picture taking  :p )

Miracle League Season Opener

It's the first game of the season and "Baby G" and "buddies" are ready to play ball.

Starting the game with Buddy #1 and the opening Pledge of Allegiance.

Lundyn pulled Buddy #2 (aka: Momma) in to play today.  Buddy #2 is usually in the behind-the-camera position.

It was definitely a hot start to the season.  Whew! I know it will be a great season with these smiles!  Go 'Lil Astros!

Miracle League Kick Off Night

The Miracle League Kickoff for this fall season was extra special!  It was held at Cowboy Stadium!

We had the run of the football field and I think Lundyn covered every inch of it!  Lundyn took a few practice swings with this bat to get ready for her big first game of the season.

Lundyn was running nonstop on the Cowboys field, but we did manage to get her to pose for this picture in the Cowboys helmet in the end zone.

After we played a while on the field, we went on a tour of the stadium.  We saw the Cowboys locker room and later we saw the cheerleaders practice their halftime routine.

On the 50. In the star. Sacred ground.

It's Not Over Yet

We may be back to school, but we're still enjoying every moment of summer.

We spent the afternoon splashing and playing at a water park with some special friends.  Lundyn was ecstatic to see them!  We went down the slides more than a few times. Water was squirting, spraying and splashing everywhere.

Sweet Rylee and Lundyn climbing on the sting ray to get to the water spout.

By the end of this day, we were waterlogged through and through! Drip! Drip! Smile! Laugh! Squeal! Drip!

Back To School

I have to admit the first day of school is bittersweet for me.  I remember at the beginning of the summer wondering how in the world I would keep Lundyn from getting bored with me all day.  It turns out that our days were busy with activity and fun together.  I know that we will fall easily back into the school routine though.  She thrives on going and seeing her friends.  Here is a glimpse of her first day back to school:

All smiles for her first day

She came up with so many faces this morning.  It was funny to catch some of them on camera.

My favorite.  She has her arms going so fast, they blurred a little.  Her happy arms!

Class time!

I am ready to pick up Lundyn from school and she is still smiling!  I love seeing this smile when I pick her up.  Sometimes it comes with a few happy squeals too.

Our Summer Vacation ~ Morgan's Wonderland

The last "official" stop on our vacation was Morgan's Wonderland.  This is a park designed especially for kids and adults with special needs.  I knew this park would be a place where we would have a lot of fun, but what I didn't expect was how much it would touch my heart.

Lundyn was completely uninhibited here both by her surroundings and by the people who engaged her.  There was no limits for her and she was accepted without question or explanation.  As a fairly new mom to this world of special needs, this was liberating for my heart to see her enjoying and fully participating in each activity that interested her, at her pace, on her terms.

We let Lundyn loose behind the wheel of a car!  Watch out, y'all!  Here she comes!

"Toot toot chugga chugga big red car!"  Look y'all no hands!

Morgan's Wonderland has awesome playground equipment!  Lundyn had a blast on these swings.

I tried out the see-saw with her on the playground.

We made the ride extra bumpy for Daddy sitting on the other side.

We shot some hoops in the gym.  Lundyn was tickled when Daddy put her up at the net.  Momma was nervous!

The train ride was exciting too!  It took you through the park and around the lake!

So fun!  We had to ride the train a couple times.

Lundyn drove a remote controlled boat around the mini lagoon.  She took this very seriously.

In the Sensory Village, Lundyn wanted to show off her horse riding skills.  She also played in the grocery store, made a brief cameo in a weather forecast, drove a car through the streets of San Antonio and around the hill country and played with interactive videos!  Whew!  Just all in a day's fun at Morgan's Wonderland.

Love love love this merry-go-round!

We all know that Lundyn's favorite was probably the Water Works play area.  Lundyn was in heaven to see and touch the water flowing in different directions.

What a special fun day for us.  We will be back to play here soon and often, no doubt!

We made great memories on our summer vacation this year.  We are grateful that we were able to go and truly treasured each moment of fun together.  We thank our Mema for going to share this time with us and capturing the fun on camera.
